Derrick Harriott's Productions présente A place called Jamaica

Derrick Harriott qui est connu pour son parcours de chanteur est aussi producteur, promoteur, distributeur et disquaire. La preuve en est cette excellente compilation du roots and culture de la belle époque.
Tous les titres ont étés produits par Derrick Harriott entre 1967 et 1976. Les musiciens: The Crystalites, The Chariot Riders and The Conscious Minds.
Une sélection excellente du début à la fin, que du pur roots.

Derrick Harriott est né le 6 février 1942 à Kingston Jamaica.
Il monte le groupe "the Jiving Juniors" et se met à la production en 1959 ou à New york il sort "What can I do", il devient ainsi le premier chanteur producteur jamaïcain.
Les "Jiving Juniors" sont rebaptisés "American Jiving Juniors".
Puis il entame une carrière solo en 1962, l’année d’indépendance de la jamaique, accompagné par les musiciens "the Crystalites".
En 1967 il ouvre son premier magasin de disque "Derrick's One Stop", au 125 King Street à Kingston qui déménagea au 86 King Street.
Il produit de nombreux groupes comme "The Ethiopians" et Derrick est le premier à produire "Dennis Brown" avec le titre : "Lips of Wine": , Dennis n’avait alors que12 ans.
Mais aussi Junior Murvin, Big Youth, Bongo Herman, I-Roy, U-Roy Sly & Robbie sous leur nom The Revolutionnaries et la liste n’est pas exhaustive...
