Corey Harris est né dans le Colorado à Denver.
Il est diplomé en anthropologie ou il a étudié les dialectes anglo-africains du Cameroun, un pays où il a vécu.
Il habite actuellement en Virginie et est aussi connue pour être l’acteur principal d'un épisode la série de film "The Blues" de Martin Scorsese "du Mali au Mississippi".
